THE SEAS WERE MINE

Good entertainment for anyone who likes adventure stories of the sea -- for there was little on the Seven Seas that Captain Hartman missed. An American lad, adopted by an Englishman, who served two masters, he took part in the Spanish-American War and the Boer War, he had various berths on sailing vessels, he knew Conrad and Stevenson; he was presented to Queen Victoria; he exchanged yarns with King Edward VII; he met Cecil Rhodes and Whistler. A colorful tale.
