RUSSIA'S FIGHTING FORCES

Pub Date: June 11th, 1942

A militarist and tactician who fought in the old Russian army on the side of the White Russians, but who is now won over to the Soviets, gives a detailed history of Russia's military record, from the early days and the defeat of the Swedes, on through the World War, the Revolution, the Finnish War to the present. A zealous patriot, the tendency is to glorify every Russian move; one must read with certain reservations. Even so, this is an interesting document as a survey of Russia's innate power, and fighting potential:- materials, money, men, mobilization, morals -- all fully realized. He analyzes the techniques of guerilla warfare, of eluding the attack, the new rules and weapons, the successful use of cavalry, leadership -- from the people, strategy based on commonsense. Finally, a log and analysis of the present war. Challenging.
