The title has an H.G. Wells flavor and the text is a somewhat speculative miscellany of information, experimentation and prognostication regarding the possibilities of locating and communicating with intelligent life in outer space. It touches on a variety of topics -- flying saucers, theories of the evolution of life, ESP and DOP -- but without the authority of recent books written by specialists in each field. The format -- small, crowded pages, a few black-and-white illustrations -- will not attract the uninterested; those who are interested will find other accounts more logically ordered, more firmly grounded and more intellectually satisfying.
