Modern horsemanship for beginners -- such is the subtitle of this excellent exposition of the new school of riding, the ""forward seat"". The reasons for the change of fashion are succinctly and convincingly given, and in the giving, the basic principles are established. Seat, handling of bridle, managing of the horse, meeting of emergencies -- point by point is taken up. Steps by which beginners should progress are charted. A good book on the subject has been in demand among sportsmen for some time. The modern method is here, I believe, presented for the first time in book form.
