A narrative of personal history that is undoubtedly authentic, but this same type of career has been recorded before and better. The author left Konigaberg, in eastern Prussia, over fifty years ago to make his own way in the world. After several time-marking jobs, he went to sea and worked up from the coal gang to master then owner of his own boat. His story is of sail, of crews and captains, cargoes and passengers, storms, voyages and ports around the world. With the emphasis on Pacific ports and a good bit of Pacific coastal traveling, there may be a certain amount of West Coast interest.
