THE ABC'S OF OLD GLASS

An Introduction opens the reader's eyes to the fascination that lies in old glass, the opportunity it offers for collecting on all levels, the challenge it provides for the connoisseur, the specialist, and the fun for the amateur. History takes one back to prehistoric times -- and forward to our own day. But the emphasis is not on the story of glass, but on the sources of information (books, old catalogues, old records, inventories, bills, etc.) -- and, primarily, an American glass. Then follows the main part of the book, an alphabetical dictionary of terms, names, etc. Some of the rather arbitrary definitions will find challengers, but on the whole, it should prove an exceedingly useful handbook and reference tool.
