THE WRITHEN WOOD

A collection of lyric poems by the author of A Time of Turning and A Sounding Summer, several of which have had publication in various magazines and papers. The poems are presented under six headings- ""The Writhen Woods"", ""Over and Under"", ""Concerning Snow"", ""The Demigod"", ""Child in the Change of Time"", ""Hereditary House"". Their concern is with the nature of man's life in relation with himself and ""creatures in the garden grass"", and the parallels are found and made with snow, cicadas, etc. The persistent theme throughout in the mystery-death- which closes life for all alike. On the whole a sober lot, with occasional spots of sunshine, in a November mood- perhaps more thoughtful than consistently poetic.
