THE SIGN OF THE SEVEN SEAS

A period piece of piracy and magic and adventure in the tropics has all the trimmings and measures up to its predecessor Mr. Wicker's Window- with cutlass and rapier clashing and a full cast of characters all through. Chris Mason, a boy of today, is hero again and a second visit to magical Mr. Wicker's shop on a Washington D.C. side street whisks them back more than 150 years. There Chris learns of Mr. Wicker's plans to sail his ship Mirabelle around the Horn to western Mexico to trade in silver. But their plans are complicated by more than one event. First, beautiful young Susan Moffit's father wants her to sail on the Mirabelle to get her away from her sweetheart David Russell. Then David comes too as a stowaway. More than silver awaits them in Mexico as Claggett Chew, their old nemesis, and El Rojo, another brigand, and Osterbridge Hawsey, the fop whose sentiments are questionable- provide all sorts of entanglements against which even magic has a sometimes limited defense.
