KIRKUS REVIEW

Chris, son of an itinerant oil man, faces with dread the prospect of still another school. And his experience in repeating the sixth grade in a Texas community nearly confirms his worst fears. Rejection and loneliness turn him into a discipline problem and it is only the sympathy of a classmate and the help of his teacher and father which set him on the right track and enable him to make one of the most difficult decisions of his life. A believable situation, well related, this book deals convincingly both with the external adventures of pre-adolescent boys and with their inner development.
