Limited, clear text and matching illustrations are the highlights of this offering for active toddlers.

An exuberant toddler enjoys all that snow has to offer, from playing in the fluffy stuff to returning to a warm house. With just a few words per page and lots of onomatopoeia, this lively addition will please toddlers just learning to talk. The publisher's expertise in developmentally appropriate learning is apparent. The text is minimal, allowing the pictures to communicate the sensory delights of the natural world. The thrill of experiencing snow for the first time is apparent, even as a curly-haired, dark-skinned child goes “slide... / …and... ...slip. Whump!” Similarly, the wind really does seem to be blowing in Wind, the worry that a storm might interrupt a day of fun is palpable in Rain, and the messy delight in playing outside on a summer day is clear in Sun. Although Snow and Rain each focus on just one child, Wind and Sun matter-of-factly include children with various abilities, skin tones, and body types. Sturdy board pages will hold up to repeated use.

Perfect for toting along to the park, no matter what the weather.
