Left in the lurch in wedding dress and trimmings, Dinah Hallaway's world abruptly falls into unrelated pieces. After a long period of mourning, she joins an acting group and submerges herself in play practice, late snacks, etc. But forgetting Cliff is not easy, and more than once, Dinah plays the role of fool. After a long struggle, she does win, but in the process, the reader gets a realistic picture of the jilted girl-- fluffy romance is omitted. A three dimensional glimpse of straw hat theater constitutes a colorful backdrop.
