WAYMOND THE WHALE

Waymond and Lithabeth are two whales who solve their respective speech problems by practicing for a spouting contest. They give each other much encouragement (""Bweathe a vewy big bweath"") and there are some sibilant ditties to work on ("". . . S-S-Swiftly go S's/ Up to the Sky!/ S---S---S---S""). Except for their mushy, idiot grins these whales have no personality to identify with; seeing mispronunciations spelled out and presented as cute may not be the best sort of motivation; and the connection between spouting and speaking is sure to be lost on everyone but therapists. Thimple-minded and widicuwous.
