WEDDING SONG

Here comes...April, in her last year of high school and ten months short of seventeen, and Fen, nineteen, working as a handyman on an estate during the summer in which they elope (secretly)... But before long they spit and spat: April can't cook, even eggs; she takes a job and quits at the end of the week; she thinks she'd like a baby; she ends up selling ice cream. Before long Fen leaves, and April is thinking in terms of business school and qualifying herself for the practical world.... This takes lots of icing off of the cake but still presents the problem of teen-age marriage in a fashion which girls will read but not resent--not too deeply to be sure (April's as diaphonous as her name) but easily and acceptably.
