This is unique, so far as I know. It is a story of a too-outspoken officer in Rome of the days of Hadrian, who was exiled, with his family, to Britain, there to serve under an unsympathetic superior officer. His daughter, who was to have been married ( at 13 ) to a son of an influential father in Rome, was jilted -- and joyously fared forth with her parents and beloved brother to the ""new world"" -- where the young people found much to enthrall them, and the older people reconciled themselves to a new life. Romance and adventure came -- and it is a good story, a new setting, and well done.
