A TREASURY OF GOOD NIGHT STORIES

By

Publisher: Hart

This is a collection of 36 stories, selected for bedtime reading, and arranged by their reading aloud time (two to eight minutes). In content, they deal chiefly with every day familiar things,- sports, toys, play, holidays, animals, helping mother, might-be true stories, of childhood activities. They seem to me more keyed to interests of little girls than little boys, with a paucity of stories about mechanical things (trains are an exception- but one could wish for some stories about cars and planes and trucks and fire engines). A few- very few- fairy tales; some talking animal stories. The material has appeared for the most part in children's magazines, and they are quiet, adequate enough stories, but without great distinction.
