A BATCH OF TROUBLE

Too many batches of bread and not enough trouble make Tilda's visit to Grandpa a tedious affair. Grandpa's love for shaping and cooking loaves of bread and his love of life are inextricably bound together, and the old man refuses to retire to the new, blue room awaiting him at Tilda's. One morning Grandpa is bed-bound; Tilda and Luke, an old Chinese, make the bread. A can of tomato soup turns the bread a lovely pink shade, and a loyal customer demands pink bread again and again. Although the story line is inexcusably weak, young girls in this age group may enjoy identification with the independent eleven-year-old Tilda.
