KIRKUS REVIEW

The house, TwelveOaks by name, is that National Trust of Gothic fiction and when Alexandra Townsend is left without a penny, she goes there to nurse Miss Theresa Andover, confined to a wheelchair (when she chooses). She also learns that Theresa's sister had died--part of the legendary curse or taint?--before the walls come literally crumbling down. As nearly as one can disremember, she might have read it before but she surely will again.
