BETSY AND THE CIRCUS

Betsy, another of Carolyn Haywood's favorite characters (see her books about Eddie too) is back again to mirror ten-year-old fun and problems. She has lots of tickling adventures told in the author's earnest way that's straight from the shoulder to the age group. With her friends Billy and Ellen and her younger sister Star, Betsy drinks tea, survives a rotten egg in the schoolroom, thrills to the circus in town and as a climax, sensibly patches up with Ellen who's taken offense at Betsy's interest in another girl.
