KIRKUS REVIEW

Melodrama about olden day Hawaii centers around an enemy attack and a boy's experiences with the legendary Menehune people, but except for the setting, the reader is in for stock situations and characters. Young Kco, known for his supposedly ""tall"" stories, encounters the pint sized Menchunes- Hawaiian eleves famous for their strength and the fact they must finish a task in a night or never. They believe him and grant him a wish. So when the attack comes, Keo is able to win their help for his people who in turn recognize him as a truthful lad. A good try, but through contrivances, it falls short of the mark.
