Pub Date: Sept. 3rd, 1943

The author of Our Amazing Earth (Doubleday, Doran, P. 252, 1938 bulletin) has produced a companion volume in this not-too simple but very clear account of biology. The facts and functions to be performed by the lowest elements, on to more and more complex forms right up to man, the science of life in tightly organized, compact form. The classifications, relationships; food, circulatory and waste systems; senses and stimuli reflexes and nerves; instinct; reproduction and birth; heredity, chromation, genes, sex and character; breeding; home and life zones; failures and extinction; evolution -- this follows the general line of the earlier volume in the short, clearly marked sections. Good book for families, as well as teen-agers that are full of question marks.
