One of our favorite juvenl last Fall was A Green Field For Courage. Now comes David, an adult book about a five year old, which proves again how well Cooney knows and understands children. Tennous, delicate, fanciful, this is a recreation of a child's world through the small episodes, the chores and games, the pleasures and punishments, the conversations and friendships, the fears, the insecurities heightened by a break which he does not understand but senses between his parents. Almost too slight, but ennine and skillfully done. A book for sensitive parents.
