KIRKUS REVIEW

This is the third of Catherine Barr's easy readers to be issued in plain English and in an Initial Teaching Alphabet edition (Sammy Seal of the Circus and more recently The Runaway Chimps 1964, p. 1102). The rather mild story of a clever house cat's back porch friendship with a skunk is enhanced by a richer than average vocabulary for the easy reader stage and the illustrations are clear and handsome. A further inducement to purchase is the rarity of ITA in general trade books now that alphabet is winning an increasing amount of teacher approval.
