GREEK SCULPTURE by

GREEK SCULPTURE

By

Publisher: Harry N. Abrams

Illustrated with 256 photographs, 8 in color, this collection is definitely representative of major stylistic and ideological trends in Greek sculpture which Professor R. Lullies, Chief of the Classical Collection at Munich, makes explicit in his high- class commentary. The photographer, Professor Max Hirmer, apparently believes in the universally inherent beauty of the sculptures and his photographs are, therefore, simple, true, and, indeed, exquisite. The author facilitates the use of the book by providing in the back a description of works, a chronological table, a bibliography, and even a list of the present locations of the works photographed. An expensive volume but well worth it.
