THE STORY OF JESUS For Boys and Girls

A rather uninspired retailing of an inspired story. Simple and didactic, with emphasis on the origin of the sacraments, this has sales appeal in Catholic Sunday Schools or Catholic Parochial Schools exclusively because of its concern with important Catholic ceremonies and celebrations. There is no attempt to universalize the meanings, and the most explicit interpretations are given to the miracles, the Jew's role as Christ-killer, the blood and body of Christ, etc. Religious spirit is lacking and the whole has an air of a book to be learned by rote. There are many other stories of Jesus with more charm and distinction than this.
