HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT LOSING YOUR LOOKS-OR HEALTH

A collection of diet, exercise, health and grooming tips with nothing new to offer. Houck (Cosmopolitan's diet columnist) want readers to know ""the most helpful thinking on how to get rid of those extra pounds, yet emerge in good health and with sex appeal."" So, she first gives tips on ""overcoming Fatigue and Depression"" (a pep talk for dieters, along with some alerts to disorders such as hypoglycemia and hypersomnia), and then moves on to grooming hints (how to minimize figure faults), and advice on skin, hair, fingernails, the digestive tract, gynecological problems, teeth, sleep, hunger control, plastic surgery, exercise, and support groups--all with a wavering focus on diet-related problems in those areas. Houck is reasonably up-to-date, although she's overly concerned with insuring sufficient protein intake. And she can get just plain silly: to minimize wrinkling, ""don't thoughtlessly grimace or idly screw up your face."" Basically, a rehashing of a well-worn topic.
