KIRKUS REVIEW

The sub-title sets the key for a frankly personal approach to giving children a sense of sharing a practical working everyday religion. This is perhaps the explanation of the steadily growing audience for A Man Called Peter and Mr. Jones, Meet the Master, this gift for reaching the level of the listener. Dr. Marshall used these simple, human stories in his famous children's sermons; he used the prayers not only in the children's services but in family prayers. This book will meet a real need, not only for family home use, but for ministers seeking illustrative material to use in Sunday Schools and children's services... The illustrations by Nora Unwin are an integral part of the text, interpretative, decorative, occasionally symbolic. The line spots and the larger color drawings I like. They've caught the spirit of the text. I wish I could like the jacket design better; the symbolism here seems a trifle forced. But the book- on almost every count-! is ""a natural"".
