RAFFLE

Raffle the giraffe(y?), too small to see over the zoo wall, envies, on a walk with the keeper, the ears of an elephant, the mane of a lion, the stripes of a zebra, the beard of a gnu. . . ""And Raffle was sadder than sad can be/ To think that all he could be was he."" Until he saw a crowd admiring a grown giraffe -- then the future loomed large. The jogging rhymes are easy to read but the story's a pre-kindergarten pacifier.
