BEGINNING WITH MRS. MCBEE

Just as one was getting a little tired of Eloise (of Plaza fame), along comes Hilary Knight with a beguiling interpretation of a virtual roundelay, in the story of Mrs. McBee, who started things rolling by advising Mr. Broadhurst to do ""something you can do very well, for somebody who needs it being done, not only pleases him, it pleases you."" A whole succession of happy adventures involving a motley collection of people makes a gay story about giving and keeping. It has a nostalgic folk quality.
