Young people in general do not see much of Virgil these days, and here is a spirited translation in the modern idiom. Mr. Humphries gleefully admits taking liberties with the text -- this has no ""trot"" value -- and omits some allusions and proper names, transposing lines and ""substituting general for specific, specific for general"". Be prepared for some surprises, but Mr. Humphries truly vitalizes the venerable lay.
