SUWANNEE RIVER: Strange Green Land

Another successful title in the Rivers of America series, all of which have had not only critical commendation but substantial sales. The handling of southeastern Georgia is quite different from previous titles, for this is a personal story of the author's trip down the river and her adventures with various people with whom she stayed. The Suwannee has its source in the Okefinokee Swamp, and there she found an isolated community, traditionally English in life and legends. As the ""plant woman"", the author is well received everywhere, and she introduces much of the flora and fauna into the story of the river, its history and its coursing to the Gulf. There is something of the appeal of Stars. Fell On Alabama in this title, and it is good reading.
