KIRKUS REVIEW

A many-threaded involution, when Sevrel of the New York police, now retired, goes to California to investigate the death of his aunt. Her oil millions are at stake, and Sevrel's benefactor, Flick, his red-headed secretary, Myra, a Negro evangelist, an overattentive attorney, all combine to confuse the issues. There are two more murders, and it takes a chase down into Mexico to unravel the mystery.
