PARIS A LA MODE

Some rather trivial talk about the beau monde of haute confuse offers an entree to the workrooms and salons of the big designers and you will meet that charmed circle of vendeuses and mannequins, wholesalers and customers and attend several showings. Those behind the scenes are not neglected, nor are some of the personalities in the subsidiary trades- handbags, shoes, jewelry, fabrics- along with Vionnet, Chanel, Schiaparelli, Patou, Dior, Balenciaga, Fath, etc... Mlle. Bertin is very much impressed with all of them- and their talents, but her sprinkling of French words lends more tone than style, and the illustrations in line- throughout the text- lend neither.... Possible for that fashion-conscious femme, an accessory at best.
