THE ROUGH YEARS

This book is offered as a novel of high-school life ""as it is"", and the chapters are dialogues and conversations between a group of adolescents who experience the full assortment of the trials and tribulations which afflict the young. Social background, race, occupation, education, religion, and other matters of daily concern are described and dealt with realistically, and the strands of the story are woven together into an appealing tale of one community, which might be any other community, especially the reader's. For this reason, these will provide excellent discussion material for teen-age discussion groups, and a leader's guide (by Edward T. Dall, $1.50) has been prepared with this in mind. It will help the young to understand their hopes and anxieties, and deal with them more effectively.
