In San Miguel, where bells toll for every conceivable occasion, Mr. Smart (of R. F.D. fame) his wife, Peggy, and their son, Jamie, finally decided to buy a home and settle down for a while. Their adventures with Maria, the servant; Don Carlos, the man who supervised through his broken spectacles the remodeling of their house; Marciana, the ethereal beauty from Sweden who was robbed -- are written off with a light touch. The daily living schedule, the satisfactions and disappointments in writing, irregularities in routine are unified by the ""living-in-Mexico"" theme. We are introduced to the different customs and people and come away with the feeling that this sort of thing is, indeed, fun and doesn't cost too much.
