SKYROCKETING INTO THE UNKNOWN

By

Pub Date: Sept. 8th, 1954
Publisher: Morrow

Morrow's big juvenile (this is being planned for adult sale as well) here, in words and many splendid photographs, pictures the present status of jet and rocket travel- with its eye ever turned towards space flight. Unlike Arthur Clarke's book- (see above report) this concentrates on the present and, while detailing the many types and varieties of jet aircraft and rockets, stresses the role of the test pilot and human needs and reaches its climaxes of interest in material on the jet engine itself, passing the supersonic barrier or the recently constructed space suits- rather than conjecture for the future. But that space flight will and must take place is basic to the book. Competent and dramatic, this will have its audience too.
