ROCKETS, MISSILES, AND MOONS

True to its title, with 79 photographs and illustrations contributing to enlightenment, with a minimum of technical language and a wealth of concrete example, the author explains the forces that propel rockets, missiles and moons, differentiates between them and explains the significance of the three projectiles. The author presents a basis for further understanding with elementary information. For every action, there is equal reaction, he explains, and cites the drawn bow-string of the Indian projecting an arrow forward. From there he takes us to Cape Canaveral and the long range guided missile proving ground which extends to the Ascension Islands, 5000 miles distant in the Atlantic Ocean. A missile parade explains air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles and surface-to-surface missiles. Final chapters give wonderful photographs of the Vanguard satellite and a futuristic look forward and upward.
