KIRKUS REVIEW

The death, in Istanbul, of the British Consul General brings Inspector Richard Left from London for an investigation with little material evidence- the body has disappeared along with some records from his safe. Inquiries among the personnel reveal little but as the case is about to be pigeonholed, a new interpretation of old facts brings about a volte face. Slow fuse- but a surprise finish.
