An anthology of English lyric poetry from Sir Walter Raleigh to A. E. Housman. The introduction indicates the reasons for the selections and the definition under which lyrics are included. The field is well covered, but there is little individuality in the collection. Nine out of ten are almost hackneyed, though I suppose that is inevitable to anyone familiar with the finest.
