Norris has a faculty for handling everyday problems in a readable manner which somehow succeeds in conveying an impression of greater depth of content than after-thought sustains. This is no exception. It is the story of two generations of the Kennedys -- the father is a puritannical standpatter, with old school intolerance which wrecks his son's marriage and his daughter's life. Years later, the son, avoiding the pitfalls his faither had dug for him, through overindulgence of his children, is equally intolerant along different lines, as the standpat ""economic royalist"", with communism the unforgivable sin. Good reading, with a certain reality in situations which makes up for a rather obvious characterization. Easy to rent. Easy to sell.
