FIRST BLOOD FOR THE R.A.F.

By

Publisher: David McKay

A series of stories of various squadrons of the British Air Force in France, from the time of the declaration of war by Britain to the evacuation of Dunkirk, as observed by or told to a radio reporter assigned to the air front by BBC. Outmoded planes, with which the British started, followed by superior flying jobs, the accomplishments of the excellent pilots --against heavy odds, air battles, adventures of bombing and fighting crews, and damage inflicted on the enemy. Lacking the color and drama of R.A.F., Ayling (Holt, page 197) and Squadrons Up, Monks, (Whittlesey House, page 29) though interesting as another bit of insight on the history of this war's all important air force.
