I hold no brief for Charles H. Snow. Successive stories seem duller and duller, and quite frankly I fell asleep at least four times during this one. A sheriff is killed. An almost total stranger is selected in his place and put on the trail of his murderers. He seems to spend more time trailing the lovely and indignant sister of one, affianced to the other, and related to a most unsavory family of notable rustlers. But of course in the end he cleans up the mystery, and the rustlers, find the girl is not what she seems and wins her heart.
