Recognizing the central place of the Holy Communion in the worship of all Christian churches, Charles L. Wallis has collected and published this ""communion encyclopedia"" the use of which may well make the communion services richer and more meaningful. Its greatest value will be to the ministers of non-liturgical Protestant churches whose form of service more easily permits variation of content. There are suggestions for different forms of services, a variety of communion prayers, and a section of resource material for Communion preaching and meditations. Finally, there is a treasury of communion poetry. On the whole, the editor has done well in avoiding the overly-sweet and sentimental, and churches with free form-worship will doubtless find much help in this resource book.
