Rip-snorting adventure, -- kidnapping, attempted bank robbery, Secret Service man hunt, crooks, and boy detectives --so well done that it keeps one glued to the page from start to finish. Setting -- Indiana -- contemporary but not war; central character, country half-Indian Wade, and private school educated Pat. The two boys join forces (enough for five) -- they attach themselves to a fortune teller at a state fair (he later turns out to be an agent of government) -- they foil a bank robbery attempt -- they outrival hairbreadth Harry. And finally, Fortune smiles on them, Pat inherits an estate and Wade's land holds promise of oil -- and the story ends with promise of more excitement to come...This sort of tale weans boys from comics to better books.
