HOW TO BE A CLOWN

By

Pub Date: Nov. 1st, 1977
Publisher: McKay

Copyrighted by Ringling Brothers-Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, Inc. and illustrated with photos of clowns in action, this opens with a prayer (really) and goes on to trace the ""sacred profession"" through the ages (jester, harlequin, Pierrot) and to distinguish different types of clowns and what they do. But the bulk of the book deals with applying makeup and noses and selecting costumes, and a few final paragraphs describe ""tricks of clown acting"" in answer to the question ""But do you have an act?"" It's worth asking.
