THE BOOK OF WOOD CARVING by Charles Marshall Sayers

THE BOOK OF WOOD CARVING

By

Pub Date: Feb. 16th, 1942
Publisher: Caxton

This is a beginners' book, written by the director of the School of Wood Carving at Carmel by the Sea, California. The instructions are designed to facilitate quick results and freedom of technique, and the author presents salient facts concerning basic tools (four are particularly recommended), general rules of procedure, positions of hands and body, various woods and finishes -- and then goes on to a series of designs and accompanying instructions, planned to put the theories into practice. With wood carving the one phase of art which seems ready at hand for most people inclined in that direction, this should prove valuable. The numerous illustrations are to be reproduced by lithography, and the publishers promise a beautiful piece of book making.
