GINGER BLUE by Charles Morrow Wilson

This is a mystery adventure story, but somehow or other it seems to be out of scale. Either the gruesomeness or the ruffian element seem too extreme; or the story takes on the aura of legend and fantasy. The setting is the Ozarks -- a village and the mystery mountain where the fabulous Lost Louisiana treasure is hidden. Charcoal burners with the earmarks of gangsters, gypsies, an old cobbler and two youngsters are the characters in the story. I confess to feeling it a bit disorganized and unconvincing, whether viewed from the plane of legend or adventure.
