PUSS IN BOOTS

No match for the masterful Hans Fischer version but bright and bouncy, this should particularly suit the younger child: on the longish horizontal pages the pictures keep pace with the story, in a few cases dividing into frames (without lines) in the manner of a continuous cartoon. If the text becomes a running caption, to an extent diluting the story, the plot is projected vigorously and succinctly. Say Puss without the purr.
