Building for birds can be simple and rewarding"" seems to be the author's main thesis. Through many black and white photographs--many of which are good- and several diagrams, he shows how to build all kinds of homes for all kinds of birds--from unimposing one-room houses for wrens to two-story apartments for martins. Although he mentions the annoying intrusion of squirrels, he does so only after ages of instruction for feeders, which are on wooden supports, near the ground, on the ground itself. A guide to the dietary requirements of birds is included. Those who want to know how to attract birds--the winter stay-at-homes and the spring migrators--will find this a helpful book.
