GETTING TO KNOW THE TWO CHAINS

Here is an extremely simple, somewhat sanguine view of the two Chinese governments, that of the Communists and the government in exile under Chiang Kai-shek. The author manages to distinguish between the two and tries hard to be objective in presenting their relative merits. Unfortunately the style of this book is neither particularly engrossing in itself nor communicative of the actual savage tension which exists between these two governments. A hop, skip, and jump through one of the world's most explosive areas.
