Old-fashioned space opera, complete with monstrous aliens and mindboggling galactic distances, has survived into the '70's; the only change is a liberal addition of sex. Here the human race, mutated into various subspecies by a concatenation of events that it takes a dense chapter of background material to explain, endeavors to defeat the marauding reptilian Vim by breeding a superman from four divergent human lines. A four foot tall, hairless computer programmer, a blueskinned space pirate, an enormous gladiator with long silky fur and a blind telepathic huntress are the grandparents of the hero who eventually defeats the Vim and an even deadlier unknown enemy. For those who like Doc Smith.
